Ok, folks so here is the latest info I have as of 10:30am today. 109 Case of swine flu have been confirmed here in the USA. Arizona 1; California 14; Indiana 1; Kansas 2; Massachusetts 2; Michigan 1; Nevada 1; New York 50; Ohio 1; South Caroling 10; Texas 26. One death has been confirmed. No confirmed cases yet in Virginia. As of 4/29/09 at 6:00 PM, 26 cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Mexico, including 7 deaths. Cases have also been confirmed in 7 other countries: Austria 1; Canada 13; Germany 3; Israel 2; New Zealand 3; Spain 4; United Kingdom 5.

I called the Health Department to find out what I am supposed to do if I think someone has swine flu. I was told to send the patient to the health department. They have special kits to diagnose swine flu. There aren’t a ton of kits, so I can’t have some in my office to test it myself. Usually diagnosis is made with a swab in the back of your nose/throat.
